Have you hear the saying “Don’t work with children or animals”?
Well, why not put them both together!
The Angus Youth RoundUp is an exceptional event for cattle enthusiasts. I’ve been involved with RoundUp since 2002, it is an annual four-day beef industry education program catering for up to 200 participants, 8 to 25 years old.
Participants learn about the beef industry and cattle husbandry as well as building many life skills to assist in their schooling, career and personal development.
Being part of the enthusiastic committee to develop the program throughout the year and run this event every January is a highlight of my year. Seeing participants develop their skills and confidence while having a great time is very rewarding.
While this educational event predominantly aims to provide skills and knowledge for the participants, I am particularly interested in the additional value of building skills within the leadership committee. The skills developed volunteering in this role offers huge benefits and opportunities as we encourage and see these leaders excel.
Thanks to Angus Youth, Angus Australia and the many other sponsors and volunteers who make this event possible.
If you are in the beef industry and young, or young at heart, Angus Youth is a great organisation dedicated to developing our industries future leaders. See more at:
